SUWS Honored for Outstanding Community Service

New York, [March 9, 2025] – Sindhu USA Welfare Society (SUWS) was recognized for its outstanding community service at the GPK Foundation America's (GPK) 5th Anniversary on March 8th, held at Elmhurst Hospital Auditorium on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Sindhu USA Welfare Society received a Certificate of Appreciation from the GPK Foundation as a token of love and gratitude for the successful collaborative Free Food Distribution Campaign undertaken by both organizations. This campaign, which provided vital food assistance to those in need, spanned across multiple dates: February 6th, 8th, 15th, 19th, 21st, 22nd, and March 1st and 5th.
The dedication of Sindhu USA Welfare Society's volunteers was also recognized. A Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to the entire team of SUWS volunteers who tirelessly contributed to the Free Food Distribution Campaign. These volunteers, listed below, were commended for their selfless commitment and invaluable contribution to the success of the initiative.



Individual leadership within Sindhu USA Welfare Society was further celebrated. President Pasang Norbu Sherpa received a prestigious Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the U.S. House of Representatives, honoring his outstanding and invaluable service to the community. Vice President Lakpa Thilen Sherpa was also recognized with a notable appreciation for his dedicated service and leadership.

Adding to the organization's honors, General Secretary Pasang Dolma Sherpa, also known as Miss Mongol Nepal 2022, received significant dual recognition this year. She was honored with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the U.S. House of Representatives for the second time, adding to her previous Congressional recognition in 2024. This prestigious accolade from the House of Representatives acknowledges her consistent and invaluable service to the community. Further cementing her commitment to youth empowerment, Pasang Dolma Sherpa also received the Youth Leadership Award 2025 from the GPK Prasad Koirala Foundation. This award from the GPK Foundation underscores her impactful leadership and dedication to nurturing the next generation.
These collective awards and individual recognitions underscore SUWS commitment to the community and empowering youth throughout New York City. SUWS expresses its sincere gratitude to the GPK Foundation America and the U.S. House of Representatives for these prestigious honors, and reaffirms its dedication to its mission of "Education for life" and building a brighter future for NYC youth.
